Recall the Night Trailer Impressions

Woah guys! I think I may have accidentally stumbled on what could possibly end up being a break out movie of 2017. A Korean film by the name of Recall the Night. I sorta just stumbled across its trailer minutes ago on YouTube and I gotta say that shizz was real legit. My first impressions… this got me feeling both tense AND creeped out simultaneously. But the interesting thing is that online it says it’s supposed to be a mystery/thriller. However I think I gotta call a foul on that. Personally that’s like not the tone I got out of it at all. 😭😅

I mean the way the trailer was edited, mixed with the music chosen, and all those little miscellaneous sounds mixed in tell me a different story. Instead the vibes were more along the lines of a freaking horror movie if you ask me. 😶😱😬But I do suppose it could turn out to be both. Either way though the trailer clearly did its job because it got me waaay interested in the movie. To the point were I went out of my way to do some added research. Although before I get to THAT part, how about I clarify as to what the premise of this movie is in the first place.

Sound good? Alrighty then. So this movie is supposed to be focused on two brothers. One is named Yoo Seok and the thing about him is that he had previously been kidnapped for 19 days. The problem is he can’t seem to remember what had happened during that time and added to that he begins to act differently once he comes back. That is were his younger brother who is the main character, Jin Seok, then comes in. Because you see he wants to unravel the mystery of it all. And I guess the point of this movie will be to see the various twists and turns that unfold throughout. Pretty interesting stuff.

But now let’s get back to that research I mentioned earlier. So apparently this movie has a couple added things to it on top of the interesting plot. The first of which is that this is a comeback for the director. His name is Jang Hang-jun and he both wrote and directed this. Not only that though but according to statements of his I found online this was also like a passion project of his. Mainly since he specifically has wanted to work on a mystery thriller for sometime already. A genre he’s also on record saying is not often seen enough of in Korea. And having that extra bit of knowledge that this movie is indeed that close to his heart does inspire even more confidence from me that it’ll be good.

The other thing of note here is that the lead in this is Kang Ha Neul. You may have seen him before in movies such as Midnight Runners or in dramas like Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (where he played the part of the 8th prince Wang Wook). But if you’re like me you will mostly remember him more for his brief but sweet role as teenage Park Dong-joo in Angel Eyes! Seriously I loved him in that. Anywho this is supposed to be special since it was the last part he did before starting his mandatory military service. Meaning you gotta watch him in this unless you’re cool waiting a couple years to see him again…yeah sad but true.

So how bouts it, will YOU end up checking this out? Let me know how much the trailer interested you down below. You can expect this movie to be out in November. Personally I can’t wait. 😀

    • I hope so. I’m a big fan of these mystery thrillers types when done right. I like watching the movie and trying to piece everything together before the movie reveals it. 🙂 and I love how this looks to have a horror feel to it on top of it all.
