A Christmas Tag

Another tag so soon? 😮 You best believe it.

Today I gotta give major credit to Carina(a lifestyle, health blogger, among other things) and also her own Christmas Tag post specifically for giving me the inspiration to do this tag. 🙂 I’ve been looking to do a couple Christmas related things on this blog but I haven’t been sure with what to kick things off with. Any other day I may have come up with something on my own easy peasy, however I AM continuing to war with the virus that has recently taken over my body and has made me sick. And yah it has not been the easiest to fight back against. But don’t worry the battle shall continue. 😇

In the meantime this is like the most perfect thing for me to do. All I gotta do is be 100% honest with my replies and at the very least you’ll get to know more about me. But who knows, maybe by doing this I’ll bring some added attention to some things you outta check out and try for yourselves. That’s always the best ending with these things.

So without further ado, here it is:

The Christmas Tag

1. What’s your favorite Christmas Film?

Ok this one is probs gonna get a lot of side glances because its not even technically a good movie by my own standards. Lol However without fail I always gotta watch it EVERY year around Christmas time. The name of it is Jingle All The Way. Yes I’m talking about that Arnold/Sinbad PG rated comedy movie from the 90s. I remember catching it on TV when I was a kid and having a blast with it. However, as I have gotten older the movie has become a fave because of how straight up bonkers it gets by the end. Every year it has become a tradition of mine to introduce it to knew people and every time they are left going like O_o

That’s because I swear the people who wrote it must have started doing some kind of drugs half way into it…at the very least.  😆 Cuz if you go back to watch the movie now it’s got all kind of craziness in its plot lines. Like at first  it looks like it’s gonna be your standard “father wins the affection of his kid” by the end kinda movie, with maybe some commentary on consumerism thrown in throughout. Because there is a big focus on consumerism in this movie believe me. It even looks like it’s trying to be somewhat of a dark comedy about it… but then you realize no this movie is just kinda CRAZY overall. 😛

A movie that starts out about two dads fighting over trying to get this one toy for their kids by the end becomes… a superhero vs Supervillain throw down? Does it make sense, not in the slightest but you go with it. Because by that point you’ll be like sure why not. That’s because by that point for example, Howard(the main Character) has already gotten in a fight with an underground syndicate of criminal Santas, his neighbor has been overly and creepily been hitting on his wife, and a cop has gotten blowed up.

Oh and a reindeer has gotten punched in the face, and that isn’t even as weird as it gets in my opinion. lol 😅😆  So yah watch this if you never have before. Get some friends together to do it though. It’s one of those that’s better when you have other people to talk to about it.

2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I live in L.A…. so no. Unless you go up to the mountains you can kiss away any chance of seeing snow. I have seen it one time though, but it was like a month before Christmas so I wouldn’t call that a White Christmas per se. More like a White November 29th, and yah that doesn’t have as nice of a ring to it does it? 😛

Hope to get a chance to go back someday. Would love to try snowboarding some time. Although I feel like it would be a scary thing to do. 😅

3. Where do you usually spend the holidays?

At home. Is there any better place? It’s were you are more likely to be comfortable and where most of your closest family will be at.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

I don’t usually look up holiday specific music. That includes Christmas tunes. This means if I do hear any, it’s usually the same ol same ol. You know the ones that have been around for multiple generations, usually sticking around because they get covered by whoever is the hottest artist at the moment.

Although I will say one new Kpop track has broken into the mix in recent years. That’s F(x)‘s Wish List. I just like how it’s got more of an upbeat tempo than the usual type of Christmas songs that are a hit.  It’s one heck of a groovy track. Listen for yourself. 😀

5. Do you open any Christmas presents on Christmas eve?

Nope, Never. 😉

6. Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeers?

Dasher,Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen. Fondly enough I learned them because of that fave Christmas movie I mentioned earlier. Haha All I will say is these names come into play in the story….

7. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

#FakeChristmasTree

Why get a real one when a fake one is reusable?

8. What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?

Popcorn.

Is that a weird answer? Every time I think of Christmas an image of it pops into my head. To be specific it’s usually one of those tins that got the 3 flavors of popcorn in them. I suppose it’s because my dad would always buy them come Christmas time. Why? Who Knows. They were all tasty though won’t lie.

9. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I prefer to give because honestly there isn’t much I can think of that I want that I couldn’t just get myself. I would much rather buy gifts for people who I know couldn’t afford much. Because seeing their surprised faces and happiness is like the best gift of all in the end.

10. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

It’s gotta be the time my mom bought me a guitar when I was like 10. It wasn’t a known brand or anything and the thing got out of tune fairly quickly. However I loved it and it was then when my first love of music began I believe. Since then I have gone on to self learn not only guitar but piano, violin, and have more formally learned Alto Saxophone. So when I say I love music I mean it, it’s a part of soul now. 😀

But quick disclaimer, I’m not good enough to be a pro at any of these things. So don’t go on thinking I’m some musical genius or anything. I wish I was but I’m really NOT. 😭😅😛😊

11. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Going to Paris, France would be at the top of my list without a doubt. But ONLY if I could bring my family along with me. If not I could go there some other time by myself. The reason I wanna go is so that I can try out my French. Learned it for years at school and wanna get to really try it out before I loose it! Aside from school work I have only practiced slightly thanks to some pen pals I’ve had over the years and from my continued fascination with French POP music.

12. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

Pshh I’m a pro at everything in life so of course I’m a pro-present wrapper too. 😎

Ok Nah JK. I’m descent I think. 🤓

13. When did you realize the truth about Santa?

I don’t think my parents ever lead me to believe in Santa. I feel like I knew from the start it was my parents buying me things for Christmas. And of course because of that I new I had to make an even bigger effort to behave. I think my parents were smart for that in retrospect. Lol #smartparenting

14. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I had never made any until like two years ago. My resolution then was to get fit. And spoiler alert, I did. Now my new goal is to get even fitter. 🙂 I plan on eventually putting a before and after picture so keep an eye out for that. 😊 My only hope is that I keep all my hair in the process. 😉

15. What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with friends and family duh! But more importantly is being with them and reflecting on the years previous. It’s like a chance to really soak in everything because most of us are usually on the go 24/7. During Christmas Day in our households at least, I feel like we finally slow down a little and get to open up. We get to stop and realize, “oh yeah, life is generally awesome.” 😀

16. List your three favourite festive wintery activities:

  • Going around looking at all the Christmas lights around the neighborhood.
  • Doing some kind of Volunteer work
  • And of course having family dinners!

And well, there you have it. That’s the Christmas Tag. If you wanna do it yourself, I say go for it. Or if you’re not entirely up to it you could at least share a couple of your answers with me in the comments section. ^____^ ‘Till Next Time Folks!

  1. 😂😂😂 I love that your favourite Christmas film is jingle all the way. I have a similar favourite film that I’m so protective of, even though I know it’s not a great film – it’s the feelings and nostalgia that come with it. Makes me sad we won’t see Christmas this year 😩

  3. Well I think there is nothing wrong with Jingle all the Way. I love that movie as well. It is so much fun and I think I have lost count on how many times that I have seen it. I really enjoyed your post by the way. It really is putting me into the Christmas spirit (too bad I have to work today though lol 😂).

  4. My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone (1 and 2). When it comes to Christmas songs, the ones from Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra are my favorites. Our tree is fake too. I like giving gifts more but receiving is nice too, especially when you don’t expect to get anything. I found out about my parents being Santa when I was 8 from a classmate. I was very disappointed.

  5. Thanks for the mention 😀 I loved reading your answers!
I have never seen Jingle All The Way – is that a bad thing?! 😮 haha
I have to admit I was surprised at Popcorn aha – I mean popcorn?! a festive treat?! :p It’s cool to have non typical traditions though and things which just scream Christmas at you even when they’re not specifically Christmas themed 🙂
And you should definitely see if one year you can have a family vacation to a snowy country, everyone should experience a white Christmas at least once in their lives – it’s magical! xo
