Woke up to some unexpected but super awesome news today. Oooooh ain’t that the truth…Apparently CL, former leader of the now disbanded girl group 2NE1, has landed a role in a Peter Berg film. Say whhaaa 😮 Yeah, you heard me correctly. She’s gonna be making her acting debut in a film called Mile 22.  How exciting is that!?

According to IMDB this is the current brief synopsis of the movie:

A CIA field officer and an Indonesian police officer are forced to work together as they confront violent and extreme political corruption.”

Definitely sounds like a serious type of movie doesn’t it? I wonder if they hired her to fit an equally serious role. If the answer is a yes, I could easily see her nailing the part for sure. She’s one of those people that can certainly bring the intensity and has a powerful charisma behind her. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Until then, I’ll simply continue to be shook by this latest development. Which by the way seems like it came out of nowhere. Whether it did or not tho, the fact remains that it’s some MAJOR news in my eyes. Not only is he a respectable director in Hollywood to have a chance to work with, it also looks like she’ll get to be in a movie alongside other bona fide stars like Mark Whalberg, John Malkovich, and Lauran Cohan too! A pretty solid lineup if you ask me. Of course we don’t actually know how big her part in it will be. That’s to be determined. Either way I suspect she feels lucky to be a part of this project at all.

I say that because Peter Berg and Mark Wahberg have been having a pretty good track record lately. They have already recently worked on 3 films together, Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriot’s Day. All movies that have gotten good receptions from both the critics and audiences alike. Meaning that in all likelihood she just got attached to yet another successful project of theirs. So whether she has a small part or a big one, I think this could potentially raise her star power in the West overall.

If that happens maybe the people behind her music career will feel more inspired and motivated to do more things with her. It feels like she’s been stuck in a sort off rut for sometime and I’m all up for anything that can help her get out of it. In my opinion she is in her prime right now but is currently being wasted away by whoever holds her contract. Like we haven’t even yet gotten her American album that’s been teased for what feel like forever now. Sure Hello Bitches, Lifted, seeing her hanging out with Top Models was cool and all, but I think me and a lot of her fans would like to see her being promoted more by her label. Whether here in America of back in Korea.

Anywho, let’s just keep an eye on this project like I already said and see how it goes.

In the meantime, talking about CL‘s music career, did any of y’all see the clip of an unreleased Music Video she leaked a few days ago? I saw it and have no idea why her label would be hanging on to it for so long without releasing it. From what I hear it was filmed over a year ago. wtf? That shizz cost money and time to make, and the label holds on to it because?….I.DONT.HAVE.A.CLUE. Do you? Please fill me in, I desperately wanna KNOW!!!
