Hmm, the title is a bit of a mouthful ain’t it? I know that’s what I thought when I first heard it but now after watching the drama there is no way I’m ever gonna forget it. Because spoilers, I loved it! To me this time travel drama was pretty much handled the way I typically want them to be handled. The main character was smart, I understood the villains, the production was spectacular, there was some good romance, and most important of all there were dire consequences for messing with the timeline. Like for reals this will have you asking if this guy’s newfound ability is either a gift….or if it is a curse instead. O_O Making it a drama that you can watch for the romance, the thrills, and/or for the ability to make you think. And for sure there were also other little details I liked that I’ll no doubt bring up later on, but for starters these points were the most major for me.

Which leads us now to the actual plot. You know it’s got time travel but what else? Well you see, in this you follow a guy named Park Sun-Woo. A News Anchor who we early on find out has a brain tumor and doesn’t have much time to live. Making him the kind of lead who doesn’t have a lot to loose and as a result you don’t want to get on his bad side. But before I go on, no the tumor isn’t what gives him the time travel powers. Nope what does that instead is some magical incense. That when lit up are able to transport him 20 years into the past of that day….. Ok that might sound kinda dumb but I swear it makes sense in the way the drama presents it. It also raises the stakes by having that be what gives him the ability. Not only does it set a limit to how many times he can go back, it forces him to be smart about how he uses them, and it also opens it up to someone being able to take them. Potentially then allowing THAT person to have his powers. 😮 Although the real question you should really be asking though is why does he even need them to begin with. Which vaguely put, as to not give anything away, is because he wants to avoid a family tragedy.

The real problem you see arises when he tries to do something about it because he inadvertently changes up some major things in the past and discovers newfound information that begins to make him question EVERYTHING. Meaning that this is gonna be one of those dramas that is gonna have your eyes glued to the screen. Leaving you wondering what the heck is gonna go down next and how is our male lead gonna react. Because while somethings might go as you might expect, this drama is pretty good at throwing some curveballs your way. I mean right out of the gate this drama threw me for a loop with something as simple as by having our two leads kiss! And it wasn’t because one character accidentally fell on another in such a way that their lips magically connected. NO it was intentional. I was like if something like this happens in just the first episode then what’s gonna happen as it goes a long. Cuz we all know in dramas most kisses happen like at least after ep. 3 with many as far as episode 8. lol

Then to go of that point I guess this makes it a good a time as any to now talk about the relationships on here. Firstly I gotta say that I thought the female lead, Min-Young, was a good companion. She didn’t get too much to do but I thought she played of Sun-Woo really well and I liked the fast development the two shared earlier on. Both actors seemed comfortable on screen together and her more outgoing personality balanced his more reserved nature. In fact I think she was like 1 of 2 characters that were actually friendly with him. haha Now sometimes she did come across a little too eager to get up in his business but overall I liked how she seemed to genuinely care for Sun-Woo.

The other person to actually care for him is his best friend Han Young-hoon. He is the guy that Sun-Woo relies on for advice although it’s usually after majorly fudging something up. He happens to be a neurosurgeon and someone who knows about Sun-Woo’s  brain tumor. He is also the most “comical” character on here. No not the jokey type but his reactions are pretty funny. They give some levity specially as the drama goes on and gets more serious. To be frank without someone like him the drama may have still been good but maybe too overwhelming for some. Making me glad they threw him in. 🙂

As for the villains there is one plot point I left out earlier. There is also a murder mystery in here. That is because even before the main character has gotten his powers he is trying to get revenge on the guy that killed his father. Something that coincidentally happened 20 years ago thus making it one of the many things he could end up changing along the way! One that is among a list of things things that viewers might want to see happen while at the same time have reservations because of the way other types of meddling leading up to that have turned out. …… Which I know all that just makes it sound like there is too much stuff going on but this drama is really able to jumble it all at a nice and steady pace. I was never confused by anything and felt like the drama did a good enough job at explaining things. Not to say there was constant exposition but every now and then the characters were able to take a moment to reflect on the things that were happening. That I think helped put everything in perspective.

Now I’ve been singing the praises of this drama for awhile but we know nothing can be perfect. So what were my complaints while watching this. Believe it or not I only had two. The first is that it took a couple of episodes to settle into it’s time travel concept. I realize it was trying to set up characters but when you go into a show about time travel you kinda really wanna get into the actual time travel right? Secondly, I think some people might have some problems with the ending. I was 50/50 split on it. It’s one of those that is open to interpretation but at the same time I feel there is enough there for you to get your answers. Other than that nothing else struck out at me as bad and I was indeed thoroughly engaged throughout.

And on a quick  final note before I close this out I wanna take some time to praise this drama for it’s scenes in Nepal. The cinematography there was beautiful. Plus it gave the drama a nice international feel. Those scenes gave it a more mystical aspect that I personally felt remained all the way until the end.

So by all means give this a try if you like these type of sci-fi leaning dramas. Specially if you like dramas with some meat on them that leave you wondering and questioning the protagonists actions.
